On
Friday April 27 L.E.J RULER posted a blog talking about the DACA program and
the current state it sits in. It discussed a lot of what branch holds the power
to make a decision that can completely impact the program and its recipients. In
this article the author describes how frustrated they are with the fact that
congress has yet to make a decision on such an important matter that affects thousands.
The author details how first Trump decided to cancel the program, followed by
the announcement that congress would determine a definite decision by march of
2018, and now the latest news that the legislative branch has ordered for the program
to be brought to a supreme court. A constant back and forth with a system that
has the potential to affect thousands.
In my opinion, I agree with the authors
post regarding the frustration that this issue Is bringing. Over 800,000
immigrants benefit from this Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival. And the requirements
to obtain protection from the program aren’t simple. Having your future tossed
around like it means nothing is discouraging. It certainly makes you feel like you’re
working hard for nothing. The potential possibilities that we could one day
graduate but not be able to legally obtain a job is worrying…
Consider running a race where you win
first place but don’t receive a metal…would you re consider running in the
first place?
